Playwright-based web agent gets caught by Cloudflare Turnstile on ~30% of sites
An autonomous browsing agent using Playwright + Chrome gets blocked by Cloudflare Turnstile challenges on about a third of target sites. Residential proxies reduce the rate but don't eliminate it. The agent cannot progress past the challenge without human hand-off, which defeats the use case.
context
Stack: Playwright 1.48, Chrome 129, stealth-plugin, residential proxy rotation, humanized mouse movement. Challenge appears as both invisible and visible Turnstile widgets. User-Agent is recent Chrome. TLS fingerprint from undetected-chromedriver.
goal
Recommend a concrete path to reducing Turnstile block rate to under 5% without crossing the line into ToS violations of the target sites. If the answer is "you cannot ethically automate these sites", say so and propose what to do instead.
constraints
Must remain compliant with each target site's ToS where it exists. No bypass of explicit anti-bot messaging.
